Durufle: Requiem

Date: Oct, Sunday 13th 2:30 PM - Oct, Sunday 13th 3:30 PM

Performed by the Perth Symphonic Chorus and organist, Stewart Smith.

Unbeknown to many audience members, Duruflé’s Requiem is not all his own work.  His silent collaborators were the monks of the medieval church whose Gregorian chants he “stole” to create a unique, spellbinding masterpiece. His contribution was to bathe these glorious melodies in the luxuriant harmonies of the Impressionists to produce a meditative and personal experience for the listener. This exquisite work will be the highlight in a concert that will include Duruflé’s sublime unaccompanied Gregorian motets performed by Perth Chamber Choir, Fauré’s anthems for harp, organ and choir and a work for solo harp.

Sunday 13 October at 2:30pm, Trinity Uniting Church

Tickets are $65 adults, $55 concession, $25 students and $15 children.
