Weddings - Perth Uniting Church in the City, Wesley, Trinity, Ross Memorial - Ministry Afrikaans,Youth, Hospitality,Seniors, Worship

Welcome to the Uniting Church in the City (UCIC) weddings page. It’s an exciting time for you and we look forward to helping you make this time special. Please find below those things that will help the planning go as smoothly as possible.

Who can conduct your wedding

The UCIC will provide a minister for your wedding. If you wish to use another minister please indicate this when booking. Ministers of any Christian denomination may conduct weddings in Ross Memorial, Trinity and Wesley. No civil celebrants may use UCIC churches for weddings.

It is a requirement that all couples participate in a Marriage Preparation Program. The cost of this program is included in your fees. When confirming your booking, you will need to advise whether our Marriage Preparation Facilitator will conduct this or your own minister. If you decide to do this with your own minister, they will need to supply us with a confirming letter no later than one (1) month prior to the wedding. Wedding arrangements will not proceed until this letter has been received.

A Minister is available to conduct an Afrikaans service.

Confirming your booking

1. The first person to contact regarding your booking will be Gail Christie. When you make an inquiry concerning your wedding a tentative booking will be made in your name. You can contact Gail on (08) 6103 4222 or gailc@ucic.org.au

2.Your booking will be confirmed on receipt of a $250 deposit . This is payable within two (2) weeks of making the tentative booking. If a deposit has not been paid within this time, it will be assumed that you do not wish to proceed with your wedding at one of our churches. The deposit is non refundable once you have had your initial meeting with the minister and have decided to proceed.

Before finalising your booking you should consider the following about our requirements for a wedding in the one of churches.

Costs

The all inclusive fee for the wedding is currently set at $1,000.

This fee includes the Minister, use of the Church, Organist, Church Officer, Pre Marriage Preparation program and legal documentation.

The total fee, less the deposit, should be paid to the Office at least three (3) weeks before your wedding date. If the cost of the wedding causes financial hardship, or if there are special issues to be taken into consideration, please do not hesitate to discuss these with the Minister.

Developing the Marriage Service

For those couples being married by one of the UCIC Ministers, the format of the service will be that of the Uniting Church. Opportunity is provided for couples to select some elements in the service.

This allows for some variety and choice, particularly with respect to the vows. When you meet with the minister you will be taken through the service and the different options will be explained.

If you wish to prepare a printed order of service, we will provide you with information you need. Please liaise with your Minister.

Time of wedding

Weddings can be booked at anytime on Saturday, by negotiation with the minister.

Weddings on Sundays are not before 1pm at Trinity and Wesley. There are no Sunday weddings at Ross Memorial.

Weddings on weekdays by negotiation with the minister and subject to availability of the church.

Music

Music plays a very important part in your wedding service and we are fortunate to have highly competent organists. All our churches have excellent pipe organs and a selection of fine music is usually presented before, during and following the service.

The UCIC will provide an organist for your wedding. If you do NOT require an organist, please inform us when making your booking. If you wish to use a different organist, this will need the approval of the regular church organist, and this will be at your own expense.

Please contact the Organist to discuss your music requirements at least three (3) weeks before the wedding. The organist is not normally present during rehearsals. If you require this, an additional fee of $150 will be charged.

Music from CD’s can be used with the agreement of the minister. At Trinity, Ross Memorial and Wesley the sound system in the church is recommended for use, in consultation with the Church Officer.

You may invite other musicians or singers to participate in the service, with the agreement of the minister and in consultation with the organist, if participating. This however will be at your own expense.

Photography & Videography

Photographers & videographers should consult with the Minister prior to the wedding about mutual requirements.

Parking

Parking around the churches is limited.

At Trinity we have special (portable) ramps and permission for the City Council for you to park one car/limousine directly in front of the Church (on the paving) for the duration of the wedding.

We are however (for Wesley weddings ONLY) able to reserve parking through Perth City Council for the bridal party. A maximum of 4 bays is allowed for a wedding. The bays cost $28.00 each (subject to change without notice). Arrangements need to be made well in advance to ensure the spaces are available.

There is parking available for guests either in nearby streets or carparks

Flowers

Couples may provide their own flowers at their own expense. These will need to be put in place immediately before the ceremony. You are free to take them to your reception immediately after the service.

Unfortunately we are restricted by anti-littering by-laws which means that the throwing of confetti, rose petals and rice is not permitted INSIDE or OUTSIDE the church.

Finally,

Preparing for your wedding requires a great deal of energy from the couple. It is an exciting time and can be stressful as well.

Please know that at anytime we are here to offer support and encouragement.

We look forward to hearing from you more.
